Snow Update

I thought I would start this blog off with a look at current Doppler Radar imagery across West Texas...snow has been falling steadily across the El Paso Metro Area this morning with snow continuing to increase from the south. Snow will be picking up across a good portion of far west Texas and the Big Bend Area through the afternoon.

This is a look at the current position of the upper level low on water vapor imagery:

Rest of Texas:

Latest high resolution forecast models continue to indicate the possibility of a snow/sleet mix for the Hill Country late tonight into Thursday morning...with accumulation, if any, very light (less than an inch)...A flurry or two cannot be ruled out here in Austin, however, I believe sleet (ice pellets) would be a bit more likely as temperatures will be just a bit too warm to support snow...nevertheless, don't be surprised if you see a flake or two flying tomorrow morning. I do not expect any accumulation here in Austin or across eastern portions of central Texas. The chance of precipitation tonight is at 40% here in Austin...50% out west. Lows tonight will drop into the 30s area wide with some lower 30s across the Hill Country.

High Resolution snowfall accumulation for Texas between now through midnight (check out the 4-6 inch accumulations out in far west Texas):

Here are some pictures from El Paso, TX of the snow: We will not see this in Austin
